The Hispanic Community Roadmap for Breakthrough

In 2018, Hispanic organizations, community leaders and allies, came together with some of America’s leading companies for the first-ever Hispanic Leadership Summit. We met to discuss WHY it is important to work together and begin to create a unified agenda that advances the Hispanic community.

In 2019, we took a hard look at WHAT are the key structural barriers that continue to hold back the progress of Hispanics across the country. Over the next year, we leveraged that knowledge to create Hispanic Sustainable Development Goals that address the key issues: Education, Meaningful Work, Health and Wellness, and Gender Equity.

This year, with even greater insights coming out of the 2020 Census, the Hispanic Leadership Summit is once again bringing together the public, private and non-profit sectors to solidify HOW we are converting our insights into tangible solutions.

Together, we will thoughtfully tackle these issues:

  1. What are the key actions or solutions that will definitively move the needle?
  2. What solutions are working? What can be scaled? Are there ones that should stop?
  3. What roles do we all play in driving Hispanic progress?

At the end of the Summit, we intend to be unified around an agenda and even more have a solid roadmap that we can follow together. It is through collective action that we can drive change.

Yet, Latinas are one of the lowest paid groups in the country, largely underrepresented and misrepresented in media, and relatively absent from key industries, like tech. Women experience a gap in representation at the leadership level, a gap that is taken one step deeper when it comes to Latinas. Latinas face something known as a double pay gap, rooted in both gender and ethnicity. For every dollar that a non-Hispanic white man makes, a Latina earns just 57 cents. However, this gap is even wider if considering Latinas not accounted for in the survey measurement. Join this conversation as we discuss how to increase support and leadership representation of the gap within the gap. This discussion will examine the systemic barriers that continue to hold Latina women back and outline tactical ways to close the wage gap.
